'Mountain View'From Asheville take I-40 West . From the intersection of I-40 and I-26 travel 18 miles to Exit 27, Hwy 19/23/74 West, going towards Atlanta/Cherokee/Waynesville/Bryson City. You will see signs labeling this highway the 'Great Smoky Mountain Expressway'. Stay on this four lane highway for 49 miles - DO NOT EXIT- .Close to the Nantahala Gorge the road narrows to two lanes at the intersection of Hwy 19/74 and Hwy 28 to Fontana. From this intersection Highway 19/74 is labeled, 'The Scenic Waters Byway' and you are approximately 20 miles from Andrews, and about 16 miles from the 'Mountain View' cabin, passing the Nantahala Outdoor Center and the US Forest Service Nantahala River Launch Site Park and Topton NC on the way.At the junction of US 19 and 129 at Topton continue on US 19 for 4.5 miles to Phillip Dean Road on the left. Mountain View Baptist Church is on the right. Turn onto Phillip Dean Road, passing through the rock entrance with black gate, to the top of mountain to your cabin in the sky.If you arrive at the four lane highway near Andrews NC you have driven 2.5 miles too far.The 2 hour, about 95 mile trip is a beautiful scenic drive through the valleys of the Western North Carolina Mountains.
